"Marvel Ultimate Alliance" presents a gripping storyline in which players must strategically assemble their teams of superheroes to thwart Dr. Doom. The game features over 20 superheroes, such as Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Blade and Silver Surfer. Players were given the opportunity to freely combine their favorite Marvel characters, creating teams of four. Certain superhero combinations, such as the Fantastic Four or New Avengers, offer additional bonuses by introducing tactical elements into the gameplay.

"Marvel Ultimate Alliance" introduces elements of RPG games, enriching the gameplay with features such as character advancement. As players gain levels, they receive points that can be used to improve the skills of their heroes, increasing their effectiveness in combat. Shield Coins, a valuable in-game currency, can be collected and spent on a variety of boosts for your hero team.

The game takes place in legendary Marvel locations, from the divine Asgard to Prince Namor's underwater kingdom of Atlantis. The game offers several game modes: single player, cooperation and online play.
