Shaun White Snowboarding is a sports game in which players take on the role of snowboarders. The game takes place in four locations: the Alps, Alaska, Japan and the fictional Park City. Under the watchful eye of Shaun White and other professionals, players perform stunts, race and take on challenges.

At the beginning of the game, the player creates their own character, choosing their appearance, clothes and snowboard. During the game, they earn money that they can spend on new clothes and boards with different statistics - such as balance, speed or rotation. The board's statistics are very important because they affect the riding style and effectiveness in the stunts performed.

The game offers free exploration - the player can use lifts, a helicopter or explore locations on foot. Performing tricks is rewarded with respect points. There are various challenges waiting on the tracks, such as:
- Jibfest – only tricks on rails and boxes count,
- Freestyle – all tricks are scored,
- Death Race – a race without rules, with the possibility of ramming and throwing snowballs,
- King of the Hill – multiplayer mode, requiring at least two players.

The multiplayer mode is an extension of the solo campaign – players travel the slopes together, taking part in the same competitions as in the single-player game, both via the Internet and the local network.
