The action takes place in ancient China. The player takes part in the events of the so-called The Epochs of the Three Kingdoms. There are ten unique warriors to choose from. The character, apart from basic combat skills, can also climb platforms, swim and perform various effective maneuvers. Between the game there are short films that introduce you to the world of the game and brighten its plot. The game serves an extensive system of combos, thanks to which it diversifies the fun. Adventure also offers more or less complex tasks to be performed. Their consequences affect the further fate of the game.
The creators of Dynasty Warriors 6 put a lot of emphasis on improving the graphics. This is especially visible in the main character's animation. The individual movements are shown in a spectacular way and are full of spectacular acrobatics. The character also has the ability to use many types of weapons, such as katanas, swords or spears.
