Cutthroats: Terror on the High Seas is a strategy game (with RPG elements) released in 1999 by Eidos Interactive. The game was released for PC (Windows).
The game is set in the Caribbean in the 17th century. Unlike most pirate games, events coincide with historical realities. The game world, like the events, is covered with sediments according to the time period that we choose at the beginning of the game. Each of the settlements is ruled by one of the five world powers: Spain, England, France, the Netherlands and Denmark. In addition, several of them are ruled by independent rulers, e.g. Tortuga and Belize. We can attack and plunder each of these settlements. Most of the game's action takes place on the ship. Moving on the sea, between settlements, we may come across ships that we can attack and then plunder.
The goal of the game is to accumulate enough loot to be able to divide it between yourself and the crew and then retire.
