Alex the Allegator 2 is a board game that offers an engaging experience for one or two players. Although it shares some similarities with Othello, the game introduces new mechanics and objectives that set it apart.
Players take turns placing colored tiles on an 8x8 board, aiming to clear all of their tiles before their opponent. Each turn, players can either place a tile or slide any row/column by one unit, adding a strategic layer to the game. Players must also be mindful of forming squares of four tiles, which are then cleared from the board. If a player can remove six tiles in a rectangle, they earn a special yellow tile that can act as a wildcard.
Gray tiles will also appear on the board at random, which can only be removed with three yellow tiles. The game features a scoring system based on completing squares of a particular color, but players must also be wary of their opponent completing squares with their tiles.
In addition to the engaging gameplay, Alex the Allegator 2 features two levels of challenge for single-player mode against the computer, a high score table, and sounds and music to enhance the overall experience.
