The action of I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is based on the story of the American writer Harlan Ellison of the same title. Released in 1995 by Acclaim Entertainment, Inc and Cyberdreams, Inc, the production presents a world controlled by the AM (Allied Mastercomputer) supercomputer created from a combination of American, Russian and Chinese devices. The supercomputer took over the world, thus contributing to the destruction of all mankind. Only five people survived and are imprisoned and tortured. Each character has to face his past in a virtual adventure designed especially for him by AM. However, it is not so easy, because every trait, movement or fear is used by the ruthless torturer.


To solve the game, the player has to complete six prepared stages of the game. Five of them concern five imprisoned characters. Completing all the heroes' stories unlocks the sixth, final part of the game. The player will therefore learn about the fate of Elen, who is afraid of the color of gold, Benny, Gorrister, Nimdok or Ted, the former playboy and womanizer. The game deals with problems such as rape, genocide and cannibalism, combining them with a harsh and dark climate.
