Avalon Hill's Squad Leader, a strategy game released in 2000 by MicroProse Software. The game was released for PC (Windows).
Avalon Hill Squad Leader is a turn-based tactical game that in terms of gameplay resembles the cult X-Com series. Its action takes place during World War II in the years 1944-1945. Production allows you to lead an American, British or German unit into battle and take part in many battles that require a strategic approach.
Each team member can boast of different skills and a unique biography. With participation in subsequent missions, the experience of the unit increases, which translates into its combat capabilities. The game features a morale system, which is influenced not only by the events on the battlefield, but also by the life problems of soldiers that come to light between missions.
The player's charges represent several professions, they can belong to infantry, snipers or paramedics. This translates into the equipment they wear and its effectiveness. The key to success in any battle is the appropriate use of human resources and firepower.
The title refers to the popular strategic board game in which players move troops on a tactical map. Avalon Hill Squad Leader is much closer to such titles as Soldiers at War or Jagged Alliance.
