Warriors Orochi is a hack'n'slash game combining Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. The story follows the Serpent King, Orochi, who disrupted time and space, summoning the most powerful warriors from the Sengoku period in Japan and the Three Kingdoms era in China. The goal of the game is to fight Orochi's forces.

Players have a team of three heroes at their disposal, between whom they can freely switch during combat. Characters who are not fighting at the moment regenerate their strength, which gives them a chance to strategically approach the battles. If the active character dies, the mission will have to be repeated. The game features 79 playable characters from Dynasty Warriors 5 and Samurai Warriors 2, as well as two new warriors. A new element is the new weapon fusion mechanic, which allows you to combine different weapons into one, much more powerful one.

Players can choose from four story campaigns: Shu, Wei, Wu and the Samurai Warriors story. Each campaign features unique characters, weapons, and unlockables. In addition to the Stry Mode, players can play in Free Mode, which lets them play as any character on previously unlocked stages.
