Ninja Gaiden (other titles Shadow Warriors, Ninja Ryukenden) is an arcade game released in 1989 by Tecmo. The game was released for Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, C64, PC (DOS), ZX Spectrum and arcade machines.

In the game we play the young warrior Ryu Hayabusa, originating from the Dragon Ninja clan. The hero arrives in the United States to avenge his murdered father and the clan he comes from. He only thinks of revenge and wants to destroy the Vigor Empire. Before his death, the father left his son mysterious information about an unknown and powerful sword, which is endowed with magical properties and which is in the possession of his enemies. Ryu Hayabusa embarks on an unusual journey in search of the Ryuken sword, because only thanks to him can he overcome sinister forces and complete his mission. In the game, the main character is depicted from the perspective of a third person. Extensive character development, great combat system, amazing background music mean that Ninja Gaiden can be played endlessly!

Ninja Gaiden received a very positive reception among players, which is why over the years a lot of her remakes were created, including Ninja Gaiden Black, Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
