Dark Vengeance is an action game released in 1999 by GT Interactive Software. The game was released for Macintosh and PC (Windows).

In Dark Vengance, you play the daredevil who decides to overthrow the evil empire of Dark Elves that conquered his world. The plot is not complex, but it is quite enough as an excuse for the title "revenge" for one of the three heroes, which are peculiar archetypes of characters from the fantasy world: wielding powerful spells, but weak in the direct battle of the Magician, a strong but slow Gladiator and agile Rogue.


Unlike many other games, this type of character not only has different skills, but also begins its story in different locations (Gladiator must, for example, escape from the Arena). Further stages in the number 19 are primarily the fight against various types of opponents and solving simple environmental puzzles. In short, anyone who has faced hits of this genre such as Tomb Raider will definitely find themselves in this structure of the game.


Dark Vengance stands out from other titles of this type based on the combat system, whose specificity depends on the directional keys pressed when attacking. Both player characters and opponents attack rather slowly, and the number of enemies we face simultaneously usually does not exceed three opponents. These methodical time exchanges can therefore appeal to fans of slower combat systems such as the one known from the contemporary Dark Souls series.
