"Heroes of the Pacific" is an arcade game set in World War II. The player takes on the role of William Crowe, a young pilot who survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, but lost his brother. Crowe vows revenge for his brother's death by hunting down the squadron responsible for his death. The game takes place in several places, from Pearl Harbor, through Wake Island, the Marshall Islands, the Coral Sea, Midway, Guadalcanal, the Gilbert Islands, the Mariana Islands, the Philippines, and even Iwo Jima.

In the campaign mode, depending on the type of mission, the player receives new planes, including fighters, dive bombers, torpedo planes and medium bombers. At the beginning of the game, the player only has basic fighters, such as the Warhawk and Wildcat. As the campaign progresses and missions are completed, the player receives new planes.

The game offers over thirty famous aircraft, including: F6F Hellcat, P-38 Lightning, TBF Avenger, F4U Corsair, B25 Mitchell, P-51 Mustang, Seafire, A6M Zero "Zeke", J2M Raiden "Jack", Ki-84 Hayate "Frank", ME262 and FW190.
