Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger is an unusual hybrid of a first-person shooter (FPS) and a real-time strategy (RTS). The player takes control of two three-person teams of mercenaries operating in the Amazon jungle, taking part in a dangerous military mission. A key element of the game is the ability to smoothly switch between the FPS and RTS view, which allows both precise elimination of opponents and tactical planning from a bird's eye view.

The game offers simple but functional mechanics of both genres. The FPS mode resembles the controls known from the Call of Duty series, while the RTS mode allows you to issue basic orders to teams (here we can look for analogies in the Commandos series). Each of the six heroes has unique weapons.
